Expressions of CD68, Bcl-2 and VEGF165 in breast cancer and their clinical significance

Abstract:

Objective

To explore the expressions of CD68, B cell lymphoma/leukemia-2(Bcl-2) and VEGF165 in breast cancer tissue and their clinical significance.

Methods

We collected the surgically resected specimens from 40 cases of invasive breast cancer from March 2012 to March 2013 in our hospital. The expressions of CD68, Bcl-2 and VEGF165 were detected by immunohistochemistry in breast cancer tissue and adjacent normal tissue of the 40 cases. Measurement data was processed using one-way ANOVA, numeration data using the chi-square test or Fisher’s exact method. Correlation analysis was performed using Pearson correlation analysis.

Results

The positive expression rates of CD68, Bcl-2 and VEGF165 were 70.0% (28/40),77.5% (31/40), 80.0% (32/40) in breast cancer tissue, and 10% (4/40), 57.5% (23/40),15.0% (6/40) in adjacent tissues respectively, suggesting that the difference was statistically significant (t=20.637,21.877,35.104, all P=0.000) . The expressions of CD68, Bcl-2 and VEGF165 in invasive breast cancer tissue were not correlated with the patient’s age, vascular invasion, ER and PR expression, but correlated with TNM stage (r=4.571,4.167,4.167, P=0.033, 0.041, 0.041) and lymph node metastasis(r=8.127, P=0.004; χ2=5.974, P=0.015; P=0.036). Pearson linear correlation analysis showed that in breast cancer tissue,there was a positive correlation between Bcl-2 and CD68 (r=0.793,P=0.000),between CD68 and VEGF165 (r=0.494, P=0.002), and between Bcl-2 and VEGF165 (r=0.507, P=0.001).

Conclusion

CD68, Bcl-2 and VEGF165 are over-expressed in breast cancer tissue, which can provide references to the evaluation of breast cancer.
